The challenge
Hogs Back Brewery makes exceptional beer. They wanted their online presence to reflect that — and their e-commerce operation to actually contribute meaningfully to the business, rather than just existing.
The challenge with craft businesses doing e-commerce is usually the same: Shopify works out of the box, but getting serious revenue from it requires ongoing attention. Seasonal campaigns, product launches, email list management, conversion rate work — none of it happens by itself.
The approach
We took over management of the Shopify store and built a rhythm of ongoing work: regular performance reviews, seasonal campaign planning, email marketing to the subscriber base, and iterative improvements to the product pages and checkout experience.
The seasonal calendar for a brewery is genuinely interesting to work with. Summer ales, Christmas specials, limited releases — each one is an opportunity for a campaign that drives both direct sales and brand engagement. We built templates and processes that made these repeatable without sacrificing quality.
Email marketing was a particular focus. The subscriber list was a significant asset that wasn't being used to its potential. Segmentation, automated flows, and better content scheduling transformed it into a reliable revenue channel.
The result
Consistent online revenue growth across the period of engagement. The store now runs with a genuine commercial strategy behind it, not just a list of products.
The Hogs Back team can manage day-to-day content themselves. The more complex work — integrations, campaign builds, technical fixes — gets handled without them needing to think about it.
Exactly what ongoing digital management should feel like.
